Lieutenant General is the second highest general officer rank, above Major General and below General. Lieutenant Generals are general officers with a specific mandate, such as a large area of space or a subsection of a division. They may also command task forces on the occasion a Rear, Vice or Full Admiral is unavailable.
Lieutenant Generals share the same collar insignia as all generals, and are so denoted by the brown and white piping on their uniforms.
